Charlotte’s Web

Chris and I are finally settling in from a wonderful weekend trip to Charlotte, NC. I’d never been there before, so it was nice to get out of town and explore a bit. While away, we attended Miss Gay NC America, which is an official state preliminary for the national Miss Gay America pageant.
Now, to be honest, I don’t know very much about drag or the art of female impersonation. But what I do know is Beyonce, and this bitch worked it out. I’m like her new biggest fan. Her name is Catia Lee Love and you can check her out here and here. There are also some more YouTube videos of her here, here, and here. Anyway, back to my weekend.
The event was held at The Scorpio, and I’m still amazed at how beautiful the club was. I’ve never been to a gay bar that didn’t resemble the inside of a moldy closet. Scorpio has apparently seen some recent renovations, and it was just fabulous. I felt a little out of place at first. That is, until an older man approached me and asked me what I did when I wasn’t being a porn star. Suddenly, just like that, it felt like home.

Catia emceed and stopped the show long enough to ask if Chris and I were a couple since we had on matching clothes and the same haircut only in reverse. I hadn’t exactly envisioned being called out when I insisted we dress alike, but it was hilarious nonetheless.

While in Charlotte, we checked out a nearby mall and the local IKEA, both of which made me prance into the doorway like Sarah Jessica Parker. ”Hello. I live here.”
Oh, and we stayed in this super-scary, super-seedy hotel that gave me the creeps. Just look at these endless hallways! It was not comforting to know that we were in the midst of an annual fetish convention, either. Like, seriously. Like, “waving at a leather-daddy in the elevator” kind of seriously.

All in all, though, we had such a great time. You can check out the rest of our photos here, or you can watch the slideshow below.
